N-O

 N - O

My thanks to those in my diminishing audience, decreasing numbers will not stop me working my way to the end of the alphabet. I'm enjoying this journey through my photo album and those who have stuck with it get a nice story today as we recall:

David Naughton

Nichelle Nichols

Jason O’Mara

David Naughton

Let’s be honest, there was a time when An American Werewolf in London was simply the best werewolf film ever made. The effects were groundbreaking, as was the makeup, and the film is still one I will watch on occasion. It was really nice to meet David Naughton, he was very approachable and enjoyed talking about the film…and Brian Glover.

Nichelle Nichols

You already know that I have been a Star Trek fan for over fifty years and I have met all of the surviving original cast members - the last on that list was Nichelle Nichols. I’m not going to talk about the cultural significance of her role as Lt Uhuru, that’s well documented by others, I will just talk about the joy of meeting her.

I think we’ve already established that I don’t queue if I can help it. It usually ends up with me on the floor, but for Nichelle Nichols I stood in a queue for over an hour. I was flagging by the time she arrived and it was explained that it was not her fault, the organisers of the convention had forgotten to send a car to pick her up.

Ms Nichols was still being the graceful and engaged lady I expected, and as I approached the front of the queue, there she sat behind a table filled with photos and merchandise.   She immediately apologised that I had been kept waiting. I replied, “I’ve been waiting 50 years, another hour was nothing”.  The wonderful lady stood up and walked around to my side of her desk and hugged me. It was one of the best moments in all of my convention attendances, if not my life!

Jason O’Mara

Nobody was more shocked than I, that on the day I went to meet Mr O’Mara, there were no queue. I had about 25 minutes of uninterrupted conversation with the gent, and he was a gent too. He loved chatting about Playing The Field just as much as Agents of Shield.  This was a good day.
