P (Part 1)
P (Part 1)
I’ll have a P please Bob. You have to be a certain age I guess to understand that reference. Today I bring you 4 P’s and I don’t care if your name is Bob or not. We will be remembering meeting up with:
Pauline Peart
Ethan Peck
Sean Pertwee
Ethan Phillips
Pauline Peart
Probably the least well known name on my entire list and someone I never set out to meet, but she intercepted me in the concourse of the NEC Birmingham as I was heading elsewhere. The reason she stopped me is she had just seen me talking to Valerie Leon and, as she pointed out, she had worked with Ms Leon in a Carry On film.
Ms Peart was at the convention relaunching her career, and although I couldn’t place her by name or by performance, it transpired in our conversation that she had not only been in Carry On Girls but also The Satanic Rights Of Dracula with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. What followed next was a long chat about those days making a classic Hammer horror with two of great stars. Pauline Peart was really lovely and I hope her new career goes well.
Ethan Peck
Grandson of Gregory Peck, and the latest actor to pull on the latex ears and the blue uniform top of Mr Spock. Ethan Peck portrays Spock in Star Trek:Discovery and the new series, we so eagerly await, Star Trek:Strange New Worlds. I always knew he would be a popular guest at the convention I attended but the queues were incredibly long so it was photo only but even in that short time, he was charming and we chatted briefly.
Sean Pertwee
It was a double joy meeting Sean Pertwee.
Not only was he very chatty and friendly and I could ask him about Dog Soldiers (a great movie), but I did eventually feel brave enough to mention his dad, who was my Doctor (Who).
I do wonder if one day they might turn to him to play the Doctor? I’d watch. Maybe he’d not want to step into his dad’s shoes. Anyway, it was a treat to meet him.
Ethan Phillips
A long and varied career but for Star Trek: Voyager fans, Ethan Phillips will forever be remembered as Neelix. A veteran of conventions, he sort of went through the motions but remained pleasant enough - I guess we all have days when we think...not another photo with an overweight ageing Trekkie!.
Next week, three more P's and a Q, and what a Q!
Sian Phillips
Robert Picardo
Andrew Lee Potts
Zachary Quinto
