S (Part 2)

 S Part 2

Hello again. A shorter entry than usual perhaps, but sometimes there isn’t much to say…I had a photo taken with such and such and they didn’t say much.

This week we recall meeting:

Marina Sirtis

Helen Slater

Brent Spiner

Marina Sirtis

A talented actress, full of character and a brilliantly forthright human being, Marina  speaks her mind. Twice, I travelled to London's Trafalgar Studios to see her in Dark Sublime, in which she was cast as Marianne, the once famous star of a TV sci fi show.  It was perfect for her and for director Andrew Keates, who is a huge Trek fan. Although I had the chance to meet her after the show, I passed and this is why.  I had met her for the first time at a Star Trek convention. After that first encounter, I have never been brave enough to speak to her again.  I was asking her about working on NCIS, what was it like working with Mark Harmon? She replied, ‘he’s an old fashioned gentleman’  and I responded with ‘and you’re an old lady’.

Have to say she took it very well, but you definitely get to meet the real Marina at these events.

Helen Slater

Pleasant to talk to but there was a certain distance maintained between Ms Slater and the guests.

Brent Spiner

There is much more to Brent Spiner than playing Data in Star Trek:The Next Generation but it is for that role that many would want to have met him.  In the time I had been going to conventions, Mr Spiner had never been a guest and so it was really nice to eventually track him down at Destination Star Trek in 2019. He was a very popular guest as you can imagine and so my time with him was brief, but that’s the nature of conventions for some of us.

Next week I recall meeting:

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa

George Takei

Henry Thomas

Connor Trinneer
